The local community around Caledonia High School is very unaccepting. In the halls quite frequently one can hear other students shouting slurs and other hateful comments or being otherwise disruptive. Also, the administration switched from trimesters to semesters which reduced the number of electives students could take. This is not to say that the school is all bad though. There are a number of AP and other advanced classes offered and the staff is almost universally very kind. The problems present at Caledonia High School are not the fault of the teachers but that of the students and the administration. Ideally, the school would improve it's system for punishing kids that take part in the hateful comments in the halls and take better accountability for it's administration who decided to cut a significant number of electives due to funding.

I have been involved in many of Caledonia's various extracurricular offerings. I have spent four years part of L.E.G.I.O.N as a middle school mentor. I have enjoyed giving back as I benefitted from this program when I was in middle school.
I am currently taking TV production and Mr. Crawley respects our ideas. It is fun to be able to produce segments that students and staff watch daily.
I have played for the Caledonia Soccer program for 4 years. I have build some amazing friendships and learned many life lessons on the field.

Caledonia is a district that punches above its weight class academically, artistically, and athletically. The teachers were great and always willing to go the extra mile for their students, and the students themselves were classic examples of midwestern friendliness. The only downside is that the district is growing too fast for the school to keep up, and the classes offered are not all the ones I wished to take, specifically for AP classes. These flaws will likely be fixed with time however, and they by no means ruined an otherwise great experience.
